Ryan Kuehner, PhD

Dr. Kuehner earned his PhD in clinical psychology at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA. For 24 years, Dr. Kuehner’s career comprised diverse experiences in inpatient/outpatient clinical practice, psychological assessment, graduate and undergraduate ranked professorships, service as an academic chair, and neuropsychiatric/genomic research publication.


In 2016, Dr. Kuehner founded Truman Counseling Services as a sole practitioner. Today, his team of 12 clinicians is grateful to serve the mental health needs of our community.


In 2022, Dr. Kuehner co-founded Lancaster Ketamine Institute, a medical practice dedicated to eradicating severe, treatment-resistant depression, suicidality, and PTSD through microdose IV/intranasal ketamine (lancasterketamineinstitute.com).


In 2023, Dr. Kuehner founded Immigreat Lancaster, a nonprofit organization aimed at eliminating underemployment among the local, legal refugee/immigrant population (immigreatlancaster.com).


Facilitated by trustworthy relationships, Dr. Kuehner designs and curates Truman’s corporate wellness partnerships, helping companies care for the mental health needs of their workforce, leading to research-proven relational, cultural, and financial dividends. He also enjoys assisting companies with the executive hiring process to collaborate toward finding well-adjusted, culture-fit leaders.


While Dr. Kuehner is not currently accepting new clients, clinical practice encompassed working with adults on a wide variety of topics and diagnoses including but not limited to depression, anxiety, interpersonal effectiveness, authentic leadership, trauma, maladaptive personality features, familial discord, adjusting to separation and divorce, parenting strategies, coping skills, stress-related physical ailments, bereavement, and coordination of medical care with psychiatry/primary care. His treatment involved adapting to the client’s unique strengths and struggles, with an overarching focus on identifying (often subconscious) learned patterns of thinking and behaving and their effect on present relationships.


In addition to leading the Truman Team, Dr. Kuehner is grateful to serve as President/Board Chair of Immigrant Lancaster, Inc., a nonprofit facilitating gainful employment for refugees in Lancaster County, PA. He also serves on the Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency Advisory Board.

Research interest lies with neuropsychological assessment and genomics in the Old Order Amish. Partnering with the Amish Research Clinic in Lancaster, Dr. Kuehner has enjoyed serving as a Research Consultant with: University of Maryland School of Medicine Psychiatric Research Center, Columbia University Precision Medicine Initiative, and Oryzon Genomics.


Current research project: “Multi-scale consequences of variants in the schizophrenia risk gene SETD1A in a population isolate.”
