Marla’s counseling approach integrates evidence-based practices with cultural awareness, empathy, and a holistic understanding of each individual’s lived experience. She is passionate about promoting equity in mental health care and believes that fostering cultural humility within educational systems is essential to helping all students thrive—academically, emotionally, and personally. Marla uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as a strengths-based approach to enable clients to build or strengthen skills as they navigate life’s changing demands. She is also aware that from a holistic stance, individuals have a spiritual need, and she seeks to integrate this in her practice of mental health.
