Sean Dougherty MS, MEd, LAPC

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and Sean is passionate about helping clients find strength, purpose, and balance through life’s challenges. His goal is to walk alongside clients as they rediscover hope, healing, and resilience in the midst of difficult circumstances.



Sean earned a master’s degree in School Counseling from Lancaster Bible College, a master’s degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. With over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, he has served as a teacher, athletic coach, counselor, professor, and educational leader in both K–12 and higher education. He is a certified school counselor and an associate licensed professional counselor.


Sean works with adolescent and adult clients for a variety of concerns, including stress, performance pressure, sports anxiety, perfectionism, work-life balance, relationship challenges, and more. His broader areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, sports performance, career transitions, men’s issues, family changes such as divorce, and parenting support.


As a husband and father, Sean understands the unique pressures in balancing work, family, and personal well-being. Known for his down-to-earth and personable style, he values authenticity, respect, and the dignity of every client. In session, Sean integrates a person-centered and learning-oriented approach, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, reality therapy, and rational emotive behavior therapy. He emphasizes self-care and growth across all areas of life—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Sean takes a faith-based approach for clients who are seeking it.
